How is the event billed and what taxes (VAT) are applied?

All billing for The Ultimate Robotic HPB Experience 2026 is processed in Euros (€) through our organizing entity with a Spanish tax ID (CIF) and a Spanish bank account (IBAN).

The tax treatment for Value Added Tax (VAT) varies depending on the chosen registration modality (In-Person or Online) and the profile of the purchaser (company/hospital vs. individual surgeon, inside or outside the European Union).

As this is a physical, educational hands-on event taking place at the CMCiB Training Center in Barcelona (Spain), European Union VAT regulations (Art. 53 of the EU VAT Directive and Art. 70.One.3 of the Spanish VAT Law 37/1992) dictate that admission fees are strictly taxable in the country where the event physically takes place.

Consequently, all in-person registrations are subject to 21% Spanish VAT, regardless of the attendee's country of origin or whether the invoice is issued to a company/hospital or an individual.

1.1. If you are billing to a Company, Clinic, or Hospital (B2B)

• Spanish Companies / Hospitals (B2B): Subject to 21% Spanish VAT. Your organization can deduct this VAT directly in its regular local tax returns.

• EU Companies / Hospitals (B2B with a valid VAT ID / VIES registration): Subject to 21% Spanish VAT (the intra-community reverse charge exemption does not apply to admission fees for physical events).

  • How to recover this VAT: Your hospital or organization can request a full refund of this Spanish VAT from the Spanish Tax Agency via the electronic refund mechanism of your own country's tax portal (EU Directive 2008/9/EC — managed in Spain via Form 360).

• Non-EU Companies / Hospitals (B2B — Switzerland, UK, USA, Canada, Latin America, etc.): Subject to 21% Spanish VAT.

  • How to recover this VAT: Your entity can request a refund of the VAT paid in Spain through the refund procedure for non-established businesses (under Article 119 bis of the Spanish VAT Law — managed via Form 361).

1.2. If you are paying as an Individual (Surgeon paying out-of-pocket)

• Attendees of any origin (Spain, EU, or Non-EU): Subject to 21% Spanish VAT on the invoice, as the service is physically consumed and delivered in Barcelona.
